Vodou Three - Pile Fey Vision Quest
This weekend is dedicated to the work of a Vision Quest. The use of herbs as aromatics for travel is well documented. The 21 bathes of the Holy Kanzo are designed to remove you from this world and place you in the next, temporarily. Cultures all over the planet have used herbs as a method of out of body travel for ages. We will be studying and working with some of the more important herbs, employing them for their sacramental use as purification, nourishment and enlightenment. The evening ritual will feature astral herbs for use in projection, travel and inner vision. You will be expected to give a full medical history prior to registration. Preexisting conditions such as cardio, asthma or allergies, prescribed medications and other issues will be taken under consideration before administering the brews of the Quest. This August 2007, Sosyete du Marche will also host the annual Pile Fey – literally, "breaking leaves" here at the houmfor.
Pile Fey will focus on the magickal herbs of Vodou. Topics covered will include the botanical, medicinal and magical uses
of Vodou herbs. We grow all our material, so we know it's free from pesticides, and is grown with love and devotion to the
Lwa. You will see, hold, smell and taste the herbs. The morning lecture will cover how herbs are used in Vodou, their power and purpose. The leaves the harvest during the day, will go into the herbal brews for the evening vision quest. Come prepared to work, dance and sing, for the energy we raise is the boat in which we will travel that night. Vodou Three - Pile Fey will be hosted here at Sosyete du Marche on August 23, 2007, starting around 10:00am. We will have a lecture on the herbs of Vodou, with a practical session of handling the herbs and getting familiar with their uses. We will then head out in the gardens, to collect the leaves, and work the Pile Fey. We will then break for dinner and afterwards, we will host a Vision Quest on the Pwen of Osain, the Lwa who rules the wild herbs of the world. During the service, we will create luck amulet, love wanga and protection bath mix, using the herbs we pile fey'd during the day. The Lwa will bless them, and you will get to take one of each herbal product home for your personal use. The cost for the lecture, the herbs, dinner and service is $350.00. Come August, the herb and flower gardens here at Sosyete du Marche are bursting with their final energies. To celebrate the Harvest,
we gather together all our friends, family and servitors, and hold a grand outdoor picnic, party and harvest gathering. We pile up all the herbal greens our gardens yield, so sweet
smelling, pick and grind the leaves in our 50 pound oak mortar, and save them for our magic throughout the year. Would you like to come join us in the smells and the bells of Pile Fey?
The discussion will cover herbal mixtures for protection, luck and love. Participants will make one of
each mixture to take home for personal use. How many leaves? Well, lots! It takes a lot of plant material to grind down about a quart of herbal powder for usage. Here at Sosyete du
Marche, we work very hard to get the best mixtures - our mortar is an enormous oak stump hollowed out, with two huge pestles to serve the grinding action. We drum, we sing, we
work hard! The more effort you put into it, the better the product outcome! And if we are lucky, the Lwa will come and help us in the action of grinding, lending their ashe to the work! We 
sing and Sing and SING! We "pile" (strip) the leaves to get them ready to put into the
giant mortar for grinding.
