Calabashes are the huge fruit of the Calabash tree. They grow in abundance in
Haiti, and are used for everything. They hold food, household items, store stuff. The shell hardens to a thick brown wood, making them pretty impervious the heat and humidity of the tropics. For us
here in the US, KWI as they are called, are great conversation pieces, as well as handsome serving dishes for our tables and altars.
