At Sosyete du Marche, we grow all our own Vodou herbs on the property. Chemical free, sown with love and dedicated to the spirits, our gardens are lush fragrant islands that offer a cool respite from the summer heat. In August, the herbs are bursting with their final energies. This is the right time to harvest them spiritually and to employ them for a very intense weekend of work, scent and trance.
Although we grow everything from medicinal to spiritual, it is the visionary garden that is the most coveted and the most used. Here you will find the herbs we employ throughout the year in our service work - mugwort, the herbs known as the “woods” - southernwood, wormwood and motherwort - calea zachatechichi and salvia divinorum. Through dedication, knowledgeable use and proper administration, we have developed a close relationship with these plants and have gained intimate knowledge of how to work with them in service.
Our healing beds also contain some amazing allies. Eighteen varieties of mint, basil and rosemary, along with Lavender, hyssop and balms. And the magical beds of Haitian herbs such as kalbas kouran and loupgarou add a touch of the Caribbean to the work of the sosyete. We’ll introduce you to them all, discuss growing tropical plants and how to plan your planting time for each one. Each bed is dedicated to a specific Lwa, so the herbs grow with and under their protection. And all the beds are used extensively in the work of the sosyete -- from our Lave Tets to our initiatory work.
This third class is dedicated to the Five Main herbs of vodou. We’ll take a stroll through the gardens here at Sosyete du Marche and identify the herbs in field. We’ll ethically harvest them and then place them in context for work. There are herbs for healing, herbs for magic and herbs for power. We will make pakets - little bundles of herbal energy for your personal use. And we will craft three of the major herbal remedies in Vodou.
The evening ritual will be dedicated to Azaka Mede for his power and energy in the field, and to Kadja Bossou for his magical abilities. Come dance with us, as we celebrate the energy of the Good Earth and all it contains!
The single class fee for Pile Fey: Herbs of Vodou is $100.00.
The price includes all meals, all herbs, paket and materials for class, and attendance at the evening fet. We accept Paypal, Mastercard, Visa and money orders. If you are contracted for the Four Circles Program, your contract stipulates your payment.
